How the Cannabis freedom March got started....
The Cannabis Freedom March in Seattle was inspired by Cures Not Wars, which was founded in New York in May 1994 as a grassroots response to the deteriorating quality of life in America. It was the beginning of what would become a global celebration for cannabis freedom held every year in May.
In cities all over the world people gather to rally in support of ending the war on drugs, ending the prison state, and legalizing or decriminalizing both the medical and recreational use of cannabis. They seek to speak for those that are incarcerated, those who have been raided and had their lives ruined, those who have been threatened, and those that are living in fear.
Over the years the name of the march has changed from Million Man Marijuana March, to Cures not Wars, to Marijuana Liberation March and now to it’s current incarnation for Seattle, The Cannabis Freedom March.
The Cannabis Freedom March in Seattle Washington is in association with Cures not Wars and sponsored by the Cannabis Defense Coalition will be held on May 14th 2011.
